Las Olas Annual Beach Clean up 2024

We are stoked to welcome all to our 2024 beach clean up event on July 5th!

Every year following 4th of July celebrations, Las Olas brings the community together to clean up Cardiff State Beaches and the adjacent San Elijo Lagoon areas.

Volunteers help clean up trash such as single-use plastic cups, fireworks, cigarette butts abandoned beach gear, and other miscellaneous debris left from the previous days festivities.

This year we are excited to team up with some of our neighbors Bump Coffee, the Coastal Run Club, Duck foot brewing, and Nature Collective.

After the clean-up come and have lunch at Las Olas all fish tacos proceeds for the 5th will support the Cardiff state beach dunes project in turn help protect the threatened Snowy Plover habitat.

Last years event we were able to collect approximately 300 lbs of trash/debris and divert it into the landfill instead of in our Pacific Ocean and/or San Elijo Lagoon. We were also able donate and raise a $5,184 contribution to the Nature Collective.

More about the Event

Location Location Location… As you know, Las Olas' location gives us a front-row seat to the stunning Pacific Ocean and the newly restored San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve. Did you know the San Elijo Lagoon offers protected habitat for rare wildlife? As an estuary, the channels provide a habitat for small fish and shellfish to develop before reaching the Pacific Ocean. Thats why we have again teamed up with the Nature collective to help us clean up and to help raise funds and awareness of this awesome non-profit.

$5,000 donation to the Nature Collective!

Las Olas proudly donates an annual $5,000 contribution to the Nature Collective, as a way to show our appreciation for the managing stewards of the San Elijo Lagoon, for all the critical work this nonprofit organization does to help wildlife and our ocean, including ensuring that the inlet at Cardiff State Beach remains open all year-round!

Fish Tacos!

This year was extra fun! As a way to say thank you and to continue raising money we did what we know best…Margaritas! So far this year we have served up 186 ‘Mahalo Margaritas’ and counting which has raised an additional $186 dollars that we have added to our $5,000 contribution.

RSVP, MVP’s

The first 50 RSVP'd attendees all received a $5 dollar Las Olas Gift Card as way to say thank you for coming out and supporting our community!
